If the person of the year (reader's choice) is not a single person but something abstract, resolves to the single closest answer. Duplicate answers of single people will not be selected, but you are welcome to submit your own wording variants for answers like AI.
This question's close date will be adjusted as necessary to close just before the person of the year is expected to be announced.
Also note that under the latest update if you submit an answer to a free response prompt like this, you will get mana when someone new trades on it!

See the results from our TODAY.com poll: Who should be Time’s 2023 Person of the Year?
After 11,299 votes, TODAY.com readers voted for:
43%: Taylor Swift
19%: Barbie
15%: Trump prosecutors
8%: King Charles III
6%: Hollywood Strikers
3%: Sam Altman
3%: Vladimir Putin
2%: Xi Jinping
1%: Jerome Powell
@KevinBlaw Yeah I think a Swift victory was likely, but the TIME polls traditionally had a lot of options, as they were done before the finalists were announced:
@KevinBlaw lol. Sam Altman tied with Vladimir Putin FTW. It's clear the median TODAY.com reader has vastly different priors than the median Manifold bettor.
@Joshua This is all I find on their site

@Joshua If they dont, you could N/A, or % evenly between those that made the final list, or I am sure someone else may have a better idea.
But obviously, there is time to wait. (I hate loans, but I am probably in the minority, I don't like waiting long for resolutions, but waiting on this makes sense).
I like that it is closed though. Re-opening would be up to you if that is something you were thinking of doing.
Actually, looking through their archive, it is a "Reader Poll", not a "Get them to read this issue" like TS winning.
So re-opening could make sense because I am 50/50 that it won't be anyone named on the TPOTY finalist list.
But keeping closed could make for some interesting profits and losses.
@SirCryptomind In all past years they did the poll before the announcement. I'm pretty sure we aren't getting one this year, so yeah I think this has to N/A.
Here's a large poll of people about who should be the person of the year:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.today.com/today/amp/rcna127397
Are they even doing a reader's choice? I can't find anything about it on their website.
Little formatting announcement! Manifold added a toggle for free response markets, that lets the creator flip on and off when other folks can add an answer:
This market never got as massive/messy as the main market, and I'd like to try to keep that way if I can! So I've flipped this toggle for now, but I can flip it back if someone DMs me about an answer they want to add. I don't want this market to fill up with answers that will be at 0% and make it lag like the main one though, so please only ask me to add an answer if it's a serious possibility we're missing. No more duplicates or jokes.
That seem fair to everyone?
@benshindel i come : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parimutuel_betting game and and I conceive this web site is really instructive! Keep putting up
