Resolution criteria
This market will resolve to YES if both Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsom formally run for President of the United States in the 2028 election cycle on or before August 10, 2028. Otherwise, this market will resolve to NO.
For the purposes of this market, "running for president" is defined as a candidate meeting at least one of the following criteria on or before August 10, 2028:
Officially filing a Statement of Candidacy (FEC Form 2) for the office of President with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) for the 2028 election cycle (viewable on the official FEC website).
Registering an official presidential exploratory committee with the FEC for the 2028 election.
Making a formal, public verbal or written announcement declaring their candidacy for the 2028 presidency.
Additional Rules:
Casual remarks (e.g., stating they are "thinking about it" or "considering a run") do not satisfy the criteria of running unless accompanied or followed by an official filing or an unambiguous formal declaration of candidacy (e.g., "I am running for president").
If either individual declares their candidacy but subsequently suspends, withdraws, or ends their campaign before August 10, 2028, they will still be counted as having run, provided they met the definition of candidacy above.
The cutoff date for this market is August 10, 2028, coinciding with the scheduled conclusion of the 2028 Democratic National Convention.
