On February 11, 2025, Seattle voters will have the opportunity to vote for two competing social housing propositions. Proposition 1A is a new payroll tax funding mechanism supported by the same group that brought forward the original ballot measure to establish a Social Housing Authority in 2023, while Prop 1B is an alternative passed by the City Council that provides less funding but reallocates existing revenue instead of instituting a new payroll tax.
The ballot will have two questions. First, "Should either of these measures be enacted into law? Yes or No". Second, "Regardless of whether you voted yes or no above, if one of these measures is enacted, which one should it be? Proposition 1A or Proposition 1B".
