Probably too specific. There will always be ambiguous resolution criteria, and although this might be a common issue, there's probably a more general way to address more than one thing. Maybe a series of clarifying tags could be available during market creation, such as
"Resolves based on state at closing date",
"Resolves anytime once condition is met",
"Resolves on specific date: ____",
"Moveable closing date",
"Opinion-based resolution",
"Resolves based on data on website: ____",
etc., just anything that answers common questions surrounding resolution, in a form that makes it easy for creators to remember to note them for the bettors.
I think you mean whether they will have a checkbox or other formulaic way to specify this because they can already clarify it in the text if they want.
It's also funny that this market itself has the word "by," which is the contentious word that got replaced by "at" in the market that presumably inspired this one!
@JacyAnthis yes. It would be a toggle between "market can resolve at any time if criteria is met" and "market will be judged based on state at close time"
@StrayClimb Market creators can already clarify by being more descriptive, however it appears based upon these comments that you mean a method by which they can clarify with out needing to spell it out in the description. Can you add this criteria to your market description just in case these comments get lost, should the comments section become very active?
@ShitakiIntaki okay will do. I mean to escalate it to a data level rather than just text. This would also help remind people, also
@StrayClimb I think it’s at least a little funny that the market about making it easier to create clear resolution criteria needs to update its unclear resolution criteria
@StrayClimb I know. I’m just joking that the discussion on discord was about making better markets while this one was unclear in its original form.
