There will be a business which:

  • you can drive up to the counter in a car (self-driven, auto-driven, taxi, or other motorized vehicle, ICE or EV)

  • the vehicle must be one which is able to drive on a public highway

  • you can order an alcoholic drink such as a cocktail or open container beer or wine+wine glasses

  • you can obviously be intending to drink the drink as you go

  • you can drink the drink, drive out, and continue driving, and possibly continue drinking too

  • and it is legal

In at least one state in the US before the year 2034

It's okay if not ALL cars or vehicles can do this. At least some publicly available vehicles must be able to do this, though, for a member of the public, so these do not qualify: "police only" or "people in testing pilot program only". It's also okay if the vehicle must be somehow proven to only be operating in "safe self-driving only mode" as long as people are really able to engage that mode.

Edit in response to questions, 6/27: It has to be a state-wide thing where such bars are allowed.

Even if self driving was good enough to drive without a human, and even if your car could lock you out of the controls based on BAC, this still would never be legalized in that timeframe.

@Joshua Yes. Although maybe nevada would do it as a tourist promotion.

@StrayClimb

You know that's fair, wasn't thinking about it in the context of perhaps literally just one location as a PR stunt for Tesla or something.

@Joshua

The question says bars plural, do there need to be multiple?

@Joshua It has to be a state-wide thing where such bars are allowed.

@StrayClimb

Okay yeah, I'd be astounded if that was legal statewide even in Nevada.
