@Jack1 I think it’s fair to say Janet mills dropped out of the primary even though she didn’t technically withdraw
@Jack1 I mean, he hasn't officially dropped out of the race yet. I think it's a little different if he keeps his name on the ballot after being nominated than if he's losing in the primary and pulls out. And to be fair, I'm not sure Mills would qualify by these criteria either?
@bens but one distinction here is that Mills dropped out before being nominated, so there was no official process of doing so, whereas here there indeed exists this formal process by which one can withdraw after being nominated (which he has said he will do Monday)
@bens Every single news organization is using the term "drop out". I'm going by that. For all intensive purposes he did.
I understand he technically may not have removed his name from the ballot yet, but that's just paperwork at this point.
