Of course not, throwing people to the ICC for defending themselves from terrorists is completely insane. Why don't you also throw Zelensky and FDR into jail for fighting Russia and Japan while you're at it.

@ShakedKoplewitz I think the main argument is that the way he 'defended' Israel involved severe war crimes e.g. mass indiscriminate bombing of civilians, mass forced displacement, cutting off essential supplies/services etc

@TheAllMemeingEye Do you have a source that there is mass indiscriminate bombing of civilians? In any case, FDR and Churchill did do that in WWII. In the Gaza case, I would bet a ton that the dead are disproportionately male and disproportionately Hamas terrorists. Do you have any evidence of indiscriminate bombing? Perhaps you can say insufficiently discriminative.

The "mass forced displacement" is an attempt to avoid collateral damage and to kill fewer civilians.

Israel is allowing fuel into Gaza etcetera. Come on.

@nathanwei this may be unconventional but I do think Churchill and FDR (had he lived) should have also ideally stood trial for what they did. They may have been acquitted (perhaps generals are more to blame) and they certainly shouldn't be charged anywhere near as severely as the axis leaders, but when you do something as bad as the maumau concentration camps or the bombing of Dresden, you really shouldn't have it dismissed easily. Saving the world from 1st tier evil doesn't mean you should be immune to justice for the 2nd tier evil you did at the same time. Needless to say, Stalin was even worse.

@TheAllMemeingEye I disagree. Chamberlain should have been charged instead for appeasement.

@nathanwei how about "as well"? The point of a trial is to determine if someone is guilty and what their charge should be. If multiple people may have committed war crimes, then they should all face trial, expecting only some of them to actually be found guilty.

@TheAllMemeingEye The allies in WWII definitely bombed civilians on purpose. Problem is no laws existed against such actions at the time. Israel is also definitely bombing civilians on purpose. There are definitely laws against this now.

@BTE Do you have an article or a few that would help convince me "Israel is also definitely bombing civilians on purpose" because I'm not convinced by anything I've read so far. They may be bombing stuff with too much of a disregard for civilians, but on purpose to kill civilians?

@dgga yeah I agree that might be stretching it, but if I had to hazard a (not completely certain) guess, maybe it's a case of they don't care about the civilians, and they want to destroy Hamas, and since Hamas are hiding in the civilian population, it's easiest for them to just kill everyone

I think his actions since 10/7 are more defensible than the whole settler shenanigans before 10/7.

@dgga He should be prosecuted for both.

@dgga Haul Smotrich and Ben-Gvir before the ICC instead, and haul Netanyahu before an Israeli corrupt for being a corrupt a**hole. Gantz for PM!
