The [Gay Travel Index](https://spartacus.gayguide.travel/gaytravelindex.pdf) is published annually by the Spartacus International Gay Guide. This index takes into account a variety of social and legal factors in each country including but not limited to marriage/adoption rights, cultural attitudes, trans rights, laws protecting LGBTQ+ people, and anti-LGBTQ+ laws.

As of 2024, Israel has a score of 38.

If any other independent Middle-Eastern country gets a higher score than Israel on the 2025 Gay Travel Index, this question will resolve as True. If Israel remains the Middle-Eastern country with the highest GTI score, this question will resolve as False.

I define independent Middle-Eastern countries as the following:
Bahrain, Cyprus, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Yemen

Previous year GTIs have a "date of evaluation" in late February or early March, so I will close this market on February 21st, 2025 and then resolve it as soon as the 2025 GTI is released.

Because the resolution criteria are objective, independently verifiable, and outside my control, I am likely to bet in this market myself.

  • Update 2024-20-12 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): - If Israel is not listed in the 2025 GTI this question will resolve as NA

    • If any other Middle Eastern countries are unlisted from the GTI, this question will resolve as normal based on the scores of the remaining countries

    • If the 2025 GTI is not released before 2026, this question will resolve as NA when Spartacus International announces that it will not be released or on January 1st 2026, whichever comes first
