But him saying it just to manipulate the market while being clear that he doesn't mean it would be somewhat... cruel? In a way that I don't expect him to be.

Has he ever called anyone that? I've seen him say positive things about Paul Christiano, for instance, none of which are exactly "promising" though. Would any explicit positive comment about you or your work suffice?

Maybe I should’ve said “considers me promising”. But it seems unfair to change it now.
