Resolution criteria

This market resolves based on the geographic latitudes of the home arena of the 2026 NBA Champion and the official capital city of the country that wins the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup.

  • NBA Champion Home Arena Latitude:

    • If the New York Knicks win, the reference latitude is 40.7506° N (Madison Square Garden).

    • If the San Antonio Spurs win, the reference latitude is 29.4269° N (Frost Bank Center).

  • World Cup Winner Capital Latitude: Measured as the official latitude of the capital city of the winning nation of the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup.

Resolution Outcomes:

  • North: Resolves to "North" if the latitude of the World Cup winning country's capital is strictly greater (further north) than the latitude of the NBA Champion's home arena.

  • South: Resolves to "South" if the latitude of the World Cup winning country's capital is strictly less (further south, or negative in the Southern Hemisphere) than the latitude of the NBA Champion's home arena.

Latitudes will be determined using standard coordinates from Wikipedia or Google Maps. Northern hemisphere latitudes are positive (+), and Southern hemisphere latitudes are negative (-). If a tie occurs to the fourth decimal place, the market will resolve to the option with the closest proximity based on additional decimal precision.

Background

  • Paris, France: ~48.8566° N (North of both New York and San Antonio)

  • London, England: ~51.5074° N (North of both)

  • Madrid, Spain: ~40.4168° N (North of San Antonio, but South of New York)

  • Brasília, Brazil: ~15.7975° S (South of both)

  • Buenos Aires, Argentina: ~34.6037° S (South of both)
