Market: Trump meets Kim Jong Un in 2026?

All dates and times in this market are Pacific Time (America/Los_Angeles, DST-aware).

Resolves YES if:

Donald J. Trump and Kim Jong Un are physically present in the same location and directly interact in person (conversation, handshake, or joint appearance with mutual engagement) at any point between January 1, 2026, 00:00 PT and December 31, 2026, 23:59 PT.

Qualifying conditions:

  1. In-person only. Phone calls, video calls, letters, or messages relayed through intermediaries do not count.

  2. Duration and substance are irrelevant. A brief encounter counts (precedent: the June 2019 DMZ meeting). No agreement, summit designation, or formal agenda is required.

  3. The meeting may occur anywhere, including inside North Korea, at the DMZ, or at a multilateral event, provided direct interaction occurs. Mere presence at the same venue without documented interaction does not count.

  4. Person-based, not office-based. This market tracks the two named individuals. It resolves on their meeting regardless of whether Trump holds the presidency or Kim holds his current titles at the time. A meeting between successors or delegates does not count.

  5. If either individual dies or is verifiably incapacitated before a qualifying meeting occurs, the market remains open and resolves NO at year end unless a qualifying meeting occurred before that event.

  6. The qualifying moment is when the in-person interaction occurs, converted to PT. A meeting occurring on January 1, 2027 in Korea Standard Time still resolves YES if it falls within December 31, 2026 PT. A meeting occurring on January 1, 2026 KST resolves NO if it falls within December 31, 2025 PT.

Verification standard:

Resolution requires either (a) official confirmation from the White House, US State Department, or DPRK state media (KCNA), or (b) concurrent independent reporting of the meeting as fact by at least two of: AP, Reuters, AFP, BBC, New York Times, Wall Street Journal. Anonymous sourcing describing a planned or rumored meeting does not qualify. Photographic or video evidence is corroborating but not required.

Timing of resolution:

Resolves YES as soon as the verification standard is met. Resolves NO on January 1, 2027, 00:00 PT if no qualifying meeting has been verified by that time. If a meeting is credibly reported but disputed as of the NO deadline, resolution is held open for up to 14 days for the verification standard to be met or fail, then resolves accordingly.
