Next league season we'll count trades on one's own markets 1hr after creation
Sep 16, 2025

@ian how do you plan on dealing with situations where creators are just doing absolutely normal things in their markets and unintentionally create very lopsided league results? Small nibbles over the course of the month will add up quickly, or big ones can be easily explained away as totally fair game.

Exaggerated example just for fun since it seems to be a Fun Day on the markets today:

Appreciate your openness to feedback, thank you.

@ian it looks like I (and other users) have profit from our own markets this season. I'm confused. Was the "no profit on own markets" thing going to start in the October season, and this will happen instead?

@robert @SirSalty should know what’s up

Thanks!

I think this is a great solution! Thanks for the update.

I think this is a good compromise / middleground

What someone makes the market private for that one hour?

@patrik we can deal with that later, I don't think it will be a big problem

@patrik In terms of practical enforcement, if someone unlists a market for this purpose, it'll be fairly apparent and we can always just unrank the market (thus removing it from leagues) based on those shenanigans. [1]

There could be some tricky case where someone does this and it isn't noticed until later after the market is popular and it'd be a shame to unrank it, but generally that is the sort of move that's pretty easy to handle with typical mod enforcement tools.

[1] The rules don't cover this case super explicitly, but "Unlisted markets are always considered unranked automatically. Even if the unranked toggle suggests otherwise." can be reasonably interpreted to say that if you unlist your market for these purposes even temporarily, mods can keep it unranked later. I doubt there will be a problem with enforcement there (and if there is, not hard to change those rules).
