Donald Trump has clarified his stance on abortion this week, solidifying two principles (seen in image below):
- This is a states’ rights issue, which should be determined state-by-state (so not a national ban or a national Roe law)
- There should be exceptions for rape, incest, and the life of the mother.
Will he change this position before Election Day? Any update on #1 or #2 will be considered a change in abortion policies.
The new stance must be publicly stated.
The following is a non-exhaustive list of public speech:
- A televised public speech, or a public speech with journalists is attendance (like a paid donor speech).
- A written statement submitted by Trump
- Social media posts by Trump the man or campaign.
- An official statement by the Trump campaign

Trump went out of his way to note that he would veto an abortion ban on October 1st. he’s certainly not advocated for a ban on rape/incest. of all the places he’s flip flopped, his abortion positions have remained resolute (and patently
incorrect if you ask me, and nearly every medical professional in the country).
