Context

In the wake of McCarthy's failure to secure election as Speaker on the first 3 ballots, some Republicans have talked about the threat of "coalition government" to "divide the House evenly between Republicans"

In the 2021 Senate, because the chamber was split 50/50 (with the VP as a tiebreaker in favor of the Democrats), there was a power-sharing agreement where committees were chaired by a Democrat but had a 50/50 split of Democrat and Republican members. Will this happen in the 2023 House?

Resolution

Resolves YES if the House Appropriations committee assignment has exactly the same number of Democrats and Republicans. Resolves based on the first official committee assignments in the 118th Congress. Resolves NO otherwise.

Resolution source will be https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_House_Committee_on_Appropriations, https://appropriations.house.gov/about, or reliable media reporting.

It took a while for assignments to come out but I see that they elected the committee members and they had their first meeting on Feb 8.

I have been shocked by MTG's maturity this week.
