Will I have a generally favorable opinion of Elon Musk on June 1, 2026?

NO

I had a positive opinion of Musk until around 2020, and saw him as a mixed figure for another few years (pushing progress in rocketry but increasingly getting right-wing culture war brainrot). Probably saw him as net negative by 2023, and almost irredeemably bad when he dismantled PEPFAR/USAID.

However, I don't tend to hold grudges, and he turned against Trump yesterday and seems to be returning his focus to rockets/solar power and moderate politics. A year from now, will I have a mostly positive opinion of him?

I will not trade on this market.

  • Update 2025-06-06 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): In response to a question about forming a positive opinion if Elon Musk does not atone for the USAID issue but continues SpaceX progress, the creator specified that for a positive opinion:

    • More than "business as usual" with existing ventures (like SpaceX progress) would be required.

    • He would have to launch a major new positive project.

    • It would also help if he were less "crazy" on Twitter.

The creator has blocked themselves from betting in this market.

Not even close. I looked at some of his recent tweets and saw him (directly or via endorsement)

  • calling Hitler far left/socialist

  • saying actually African villages are happier than Beverly Hills, so they don’t need our aid

  • saying Derek Chauvin was innocent

  • hating on migrants/muslims

  • calling for rounding people up into forced labor camps

What a waste.

just look at the blowing up ebola rates right now, caused by the removal of 700 million of US AID— people that Elon is directly tied to letting die.

Do you think you'd have a positive opinion of him if he never actively apologizes or atones for USAID stuff, but does continue to make SpaceX progress?

@mongo He would have to do more than business as usual. He’d have to launch a major new positive project, and it’d help if he were less crazy on Twitter.

@robert thanks, fixed!
