Resolution Criteria

The market resolves to the total number of consecutive calendar days during which Avatar: Fire and Ash earned more than $1 million in US box office revenue. Resolution will be determined using daily box office data from Box Office Mojo, which tracks daily US domestic box office figures. The count begins on December 19, 2025, the film's US release date, and continues until the film fails to earn $1 million in a single day, at which point the consecutive streak ends. If the film later earns more than $1 million again (e.g., from a re-release), that would start a new streak, but only the longest consecutive streak counts.

Background

Avatar: Fire and Ash was released in the United States on December 19, 2025, and has performed strongly at the box office. As of January 6, 2026, the film has grossed $311 million in the United States and Canada. The film benefited from the holiday season, with kids still out of school for winter break spurring late-stage boosts. In its second weekend, the film retained the top spot with $63.1 million, and in its third weekend it grossed $40 million.

Considerations

Daily box office figures can fluctuate significantly based on day-of-week patterns, with weekends typically generating substantially higher revenue than weekdays. The film's performance during the holiday period (late December through early January) was elevated due to school breaks and holiday moviegoing patterns, which may not be representative of typical daily performance once the film enters its regular theatrical run.
