When I was first presented with the question I was a young child, and it was a variation, being a “ton” of bricks and feathers. I was not really aware in that case that a ton could be referring to a unit worth 2,000 lb, instead of just meaning “a lot”.

@GleamingRhino I realize now I misread the question. Oh well, the anecdote stands.

@TheAllMemeingEye yes, but as cdgc pointed out in the original thread, that's probably actually a detriment in this case because it means they are more likely to be familiar with the original version and misread it.

@bluerat on the other hand, they're more likely to realize this is likely a meta-trick question and actually read it word-by-word rather than just skimming it before answering.

(And isn't the original version, like, very famous? Even a random street teenager has most likely heard it at least once at some time.)
