Waymo is coming to Denver in 2026. Can they handle the snow?

Let a snowstorm be defined as the NWS Denver/Boulder office issuing a Winter Storm Warning or Blizzard Warning, AND an NWS Local Storm Report showing >5" of snowfall in any 24 hour period within the City & County of Denver, or at Denver International Airport.

Resolves to YES if, for 24 hours after the first time this criteria is met once Waymo begins service available to the public with at least 10 cars, Waymo continues to offer rides within the full zone for at least 23 of those hours.

Also resolves YES if Waymo never suspends service due to weather in Denver during its first 365 days of operation in Denver.

Resolves to NO if Waymo suspends operations for over an hour during that time.

Resolves to NO if Waymo does not deploy in Denver in 2026, or withdraws its service entirely before it is put to the test.

  • Update 2025-09-20 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): - Due to weather covers any suspension that results from weather (e.g., weather-caused emergency declarations/closures). Suspensions for non-weather-related reasons do not count as due to weather.

@ZviMowshowitz, what if they suspend service due to a declaration of emergency?

@DanielTilkin 'Due to weather' includes all things that result from weather, and not the things that don't.
