People trust newspapers too much when it comes to transfer rumors - but then again, what else are they supposed to trust. Maybe their independent analysis of the player's circumstances and what a player like him would usually end up doing. A lot of it is always pure speculation. And the outlets like to parrot each other, they make it sound as if they get this from independent sources, but you can usually trace all of the articles back to one or two original sources, which can often be full of shit, or speculative themselves.
