Resolution criteria

  • This resolves based on the first official announcement that a person different from the incumbent is appointed Prime Minister of France.

  • For each answer month M, resolve YES if the appointment is officially announced before 00:00 on the first day of month M (Paris time, CET/CEST). Otherwise resolve NO.

  • “Officially announced” means: (a) an Élysée press release naming the new Prime Minister, or (b) publication of the appointment decree in the Journal Officiel—use whichever occurs first. Examples of such pages: Élysée PM appointment notes and the decree page in Légifrance. (elysee.fr, legifrance.gouv.fr)

  • Caretaker management of “affaires courantes” by the outgoing PM does not count. Reappointment of the same individual as PM does not count as “new.” If both an Élysée note and a decree are issued on different days, use the earlier timestamp (Paris time). (elysee.fr)

Background

  • As of September 6, 2025, François Bayrou is Prime Minister (appointed December 13, 2024). (elysee.fr, legifrance.gouv.fr)

  • A no‑confidence vote is scheduled for September 8, 2025; if the government falls, a successor could be named quickly. (reuters.com, ft.com)

Considerations

  • Under Article 8 of the Constitution, the President appoints the PM; the outgoing PM typically remains to handle current affairs until a successor is appointed. Resolution hinges on the formal appointment announcement, not on media reports or coalition agreements. (elysee.fr)
