After a year on the diagnosis waiting list, and almost a second year on the titration waiting list, I am finally about to receive meds for my severe life-ruining ADHD. UK healthcare is greeeeeeeeeeeeeeat. Will the meds work or will I mcfucking grill myself?
To resolve YES, the first medication I have been prescribed (methylphenidate hydrochloride) must eventually reduce the ADHD symptoms sufficiently that I subjectively estimate that I am losing at least 50% less time to drift and distraction relative to before. I'm in a titration process where they will be gradually increasing the dosage over 12 weeks to tell which level works best. Resolves NO if it doesn't have the needed effect at any point in this titration process.

There was a bunch of fucking around because the delivery service kept failing to find our home and falsely claiming we didn't know the confirmation code, but we finally managed to get the meds the other day. As you can probably tell by the fact it took multiple days to get around to posting this update, they have not yet cured me. However, they are slow release meds and this is the lowest dose, so hope is not lost yet 🙏
My cousin waited forever too, but methylphenidate actually helped once they hit the right dose. Took like 8 weeks tho. Just don’t expect instant magic. UK healthcare tests your patience. Also, maybe read this https://friday-plans.pissedconsumer.com/review.html —kinda eye-opening if you're exploring options or just wanna rage-scroll.
@MingCat haha I suppose that if I was totally in control I would probably not be spending more than an hour on Manifold per day, ideally closer to 30 mins. Maybe someone can confirm via the API, but I suspect it might be more like 3-6 hours daily right now.
@MingCat I'm considering making a bounty where I have to pay people 1000 mana if they catch me spending too long on the site lol
