N/A if /shankypanky/will-stralor-send-me-a-recipe-for-a doesn't resolve YES, or for whatever reason it resolves YES but she doesn't make the soup or render JUDGMENT. Otherwise resolves to @shankypanky's opinion of the soup.

I freestyled a soup and made it a recipe. I believe that recipe is good soup, but my tastes are not her tastes.

What's in the soup?? /nikki/which-ingredients-will-be-a-part-of

okay sorry to soup tease, everyone. 🍲 I really enjoyed @Stralor's soup yesterday and looking forward to another bowl when it hits a more reasonable soup-eating hour! I'm not a mushroom person though I keep trying to become one, and they're really good here! good chunks, good spice, good texture, good all around! I liked this soup!

I didn't expect a little meme market about soup to create a whole genre (and apparently make me a Souperforecaster?) but it's been fun - and I have some Souper Tuesday recipes yet to try 🧡

@shankypanky woohoo!

@shankypanky I am strangely invested in the soup inheritance trilogy please work towards the sequel.

@shankypanky Antici …

@shankypanky I spy an adorable kittycat in the corner lol

@TheAllMemeingEye I have a couple of cats staying with me here for a few weeks and we're codependent lol

okay I've been posting updates elsewhere but here's the latest:
the burner is off, the kitchen is clean, and I'm letting her sit and cool for a bit before I have a bowl. the house smells great and the soup has lots of ingredients I love, with at least one I wouldn't ordinarily ever use or seek out (which makes me even more curious!)

Pat made me skimp on the habanero and he adorably thinks that I would be somehow intimidated by any levels of turmeric but I just followed my heart the whole way through while following his recipe. in a completely on-brand move, I have made entirely too much as I have a giant 6qt ceramic soup pot and it's pretty full...

I admit my skepticism when I saw a recipe without garlic (!!) but I'm keeping an open mind.

@shankypanky my dad and I have a garlic sensitivity, so I've had to learn to cook without it!

also, the only changes I think I made: I'm out of truffle salt, I don't use canola oil (I cook with avocado oil at high temps and olive oil at lower, I did use sesame oil in the pot though!), and I don't use powdered ginger so I just diced and included a healthy dose of that. I do use powdered turmeric every morning though so I used that and saved the fresh stuff because I started feeling lazy.

@shankypanky I've never seen fresh turmeric! I get the vibe it's a lot like ginger. true?

@Stralor what! I recently lived in a commune in the middle of a tropical forest for ~5 years so I was spoilt by being able to just grab some out of the ground or grab some super fresh from our little shop. which is not the case here, but I have access to it and it's passable.

it's similar to ginger but the roots are more like fingers (thinner and more or less individual) - you need to do the same as you do with ginger and take the outer skin off. it stains e v e r y t h i n g so it's a little more annoying to prep and the powdered turmeric is good imo. I always have a bag of it on the counter because I include that and cinnamon in a smoothie in the mornings.

minor and unintended delay (though Pat's right, it's a bit of quiet thrill to be in the position of Soup Tease) but today is the day 🍲

@Stralor limited mushrooms available for foraging (I managed to get a few kinds though) and I'm out of truffle salt 😭 but I'm going to try to borrow some from a neighbour lol

just a heads up to everyone: @Stralor has officially handed over that good good today and just in time for me to forage for ingredients on a shopping trip later. stay tuned - I'll report back after I've made the soup 🍲

@shankypanky 🙌 glad the timing worked out!

@shankypanky who's the soup tease now

@Stralor my how the tables have turned...

bought Ṁ25 NO

This soup has way too many ingredients to actually taste good. If I was the one that had to taste it, at this point I would be pretty scared.

@Odoacre how do you know how many ingredients there are?

@shankypanky @Stralor said it had 18 ingredients in the ingredient market (including spices)

@Odoacre oh I missed that spoiler I only saw the other one hm

@Odoacre some of my best dishes prob have 30+ ingredients 😇 but yeah they're not for everyone

@Stralor yeah we obviously have very different cooking styles, but you do you!

sold Ṁ153 YES

@Odoacre thanks for the heads up I haven't done my door diligence and technical analyses on your claims, but it sounds like am expensive wine experience rather than a sugary sweet summer wwaaaan that you get drunk on. I sold
