This market has been UNLISTED for several days, due to questions about the criteria. We can't leave it unlisted forever because it will affect league profits, so I think we should re-list it within about a day.

@3IC If you want to clarify the use of the word "Indicted", feel free, but it looks like the market has decided that he was not "indicted" over the course of the last few days.

Binance’s founder and CEO, Changpeng Zhao, waived indictment and pled guilty to willfully violating the BSA, agreed to pay a $50 million fine, and to step down from his role as CEO.

REVIEW OF DOJ PRESS CONFERENCE:

• The penalty includes settlement with CFTC, FinCEN, OFEC.

• This settles ALL US Government Agencies Investigations & Probes, aside from anything that may come from the SEC.

• Advances ability to go after groups like Hamas

• Felony Charges for CZ for:

  1. "Willfully Violating The Bank Secrecy Act"

  2. "Knowingly Failing To Register As A MTB

  3. "Willfully Violating The International Emergency Economic Powers Act"

• CZ Plead "GUILTY" ; Files Sealed Upon Motion Until Sentencing.

• Sentencing is 6 months from today (Approximately)

My Takeaway:

All agencies seemed to deliberately imply Binance, The Company, and refrain from accusing CZ as someone who is being criminally charged. This could be due to the sealed plea agreement with sentencing in 6 months or other "National Security" issues.

This was 100% National Security using these agencies for investigation and probing from the wording of everything during the press conference.

CZ & Employees of "Binance" was openly letting terrorists and banned countries operate with at minimum with proof over $1.3 Billion on Binance and Binance.us ; No AML, No True KYC. Failed to report known transactions for sex acts, drugs, terrorists (including hamas, isis, etc.)
What an idiot.

I would say, imo, after listening/watching the Press Conference, this market should close naturally and resolve once sentencing occurs to see if the release of sealed documents state an Indictment during 2023 of CZ himself.

Attorneys for CZ filed sealed motions concerning the Binance CEO’s conditional release pending sentencing in the case, but the contents were not available at the time of publication.

I am unlisting this market so new users won't find it for the time being.

It is still open for trading. We will re-list it if the creator comes along to clarify.

The reason for this action is it is causing unsuspecting users to bet large amounts in a way that may or may not be completely fair to them. This does not mean Manifold is always going to protect all users from themselves, just in this situation, temporarily unlisting the market for new traders feels to me like a reasonable step, pending clarification or update to the description from the creator.

Edit: And I sold my entire position some hours ago. I won't bet at all during this period.

I also support this. If the creator doesn't get back any time soon, I would recommend that we re-list it so it does count for leagues though. Excluding markets with unclear criteria from leagues might be a good policy, but it is not the current policy.

@SirSalty thoughts on all this? Would be nice to be able to edit a warning into the title too.

Lesson I learned today is that, in my opinion, The US DOJ was so invested in investigating Binance that they let FTX get away with a lot of shit, and/or, SBF had lobbyists that kept FTX away from the US DOJ for as long as possible, until POOF "bankrupt", "charged", "guilty".
