Russia will not try to assasinate Zelensky, because it would be a lot of propaganda work to create hate towards whoever becomes next president of Ukraine. The will likely not change the narrative which works.

This doesn't seem to preclude portions of Ukraine being formally annexed to Russia if Zelenskyy is still president of the rump state.
