I ran a business from 2017 through roughly this year, which has more or less been on dormant mode while I work full-time, it just pays its bills, including a Federal loan which is just paying out interest.
The business owns a few trademarks which would need to be somehow transferred to me.
The main reason I haven't been able to shut it down is probably just deprioritization / laziness, with perhaps a splash of it not being a thing I like to think about because it was just such a catastrophic failure, and I was able to re-build my life by just actively ignoring it as a responsibility.
So that being said, it really needs to be done, it's like a, "clean your room," type of chore from when you were a kid, but times a thousand.
Will I get 'er done by the end of the year?
God I hope so. There's a huge number of tasks involved.
P.S...Don't start a business unless you really need to folks...do not start businesses for egotistical reasons. Only start businesses when you are really sure you need a bucket to put incoming money, otherwise, put it off as long as possible. I am sort of writing this for myself, but yeah--anything you have heard about startups and formalizing your business...try to keep your projects as informal as possible for as long as possible, it's a huge buerucratic hassle dealing with businesses and you can end up accruing multiple zombie businesses, like a hoarder.
RESOLUTION CRITERIA:
I will have filed with the IRS, State, shareholders, sold off or liquidated assets to individuals, paid off the loans, closed bank accounts, closed credit cards, basically done all of everything necessary to shut down the business by December 31st, 2023.
Evidence provided if requested (annonymized).
