@Kronopath are you happy that throwing is as central to the game as it was in Arceus?
@Gabrielle do you consider this game to be as open-world as Arceus? I haven’t gotten far enough in the story to know if you get into Prism Tower or leave the city at any point.
@NoitUK To be honest, I don’t have the game and I’m probably not going to play it for a while as I don’t have a Switch 2.
I would actually say that no, aiming and throwing things isn’t a central mechanic. Especially not aiming.
I haven’t gotten the game yet (and might not at all) but I spent some time looking through videos for the sake of this market. It seems like the focus is more so on the real-time battles rather than the throwing/catching mechanics.
There are no throwing items like the mud balls.
This Reddit thread and videos I’ve seen suggest there’s a pretty restrictive range limit to Pokéballs thrown to catch a Pokémon…
…which is why the balls that affect that range from L:A (Heavy and Jet balls) don’t exist in this game.
From what I can tell, you also can’t free-aim Pokéballs you already have a Pokémon in, to send your mons to a farther location. Instead, they’re sent out right near you, and the way to “sneak attack” is to instead send out their attacks from a distance rather than throwing their balls.
The “rogue mega evolution” boss battles are based around real-time Pokémon combat, unlike L:A’s “rogue alpha” battles which were mainly based around throwing and dodging.
So although the mechanic is kind of there, it’s not really present/central to the extent it was in L:A.
Aiming, especially, seems to have almost entirely been de-emphasized, as the way to catch Pokémon in this game seems to be to get close enough to use the lock-on mechanic.
RIP my 25 mana, and this is somewhat subjective, but IMO I’d resolve that question “NO”.
The "before July 2025" option can resolve NO, given that the game isn't out and it's August. (Sorry it didn't come out before then, @NoitUK!)
Just thought that the @traders on the ">5 new Mega Evolutions" question would be interested in the above! :D
Got it! also, Oh shoot, then I guess I've gotta bet it WAY down, then
@Gabrielle there have been 3 pokemon catchable in every main game, psyduck magikarp magnemite, pikachu isnt one of them (wasn't in unova) so there is a slight chance
