"first main series Gen 10 Pokémon game(s)" = first games where there is fan consensus that this is the main series game following in the tradition of Red&Blue, Gold&Silver, ... Scarlet & Violet. If it's not obvious whether a game is or is not this game then a poll will be set up asking "Is/Are Game(s) the first main series Gen 10 Pokémon games". Wording is to exclude weirdo games like Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee or Pokémon Legends Arceus which are sort of main series but not.

  • Update 2025-02-03 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Pokémon Legends Z-A Clarification

    • Exclusion of PLZA: Pokémon Legends Z-A is not considered a main series Gen 10 game at the time of this market.

    • Future Considerations: For PLZA to be deemed as part of the main series, it would need to show significant changes (for example, incorporating systems like VGC into PLZA or presenting as paired games).

Case for NO: the last two gens have been panned at sub 5. Gamefreak’s lost the sauce.

Case for YES: the last two gens were laggy as hell, and a stronger machine will alleviate those problems, if nothing else, giving it more of a bump.

Case for NO: it’ll look even worse by comparison with its peers.

Case for YES: it’s compared with Pokemon, not its peers, and it’s easier to make games look good if you have more processing power, even if you lack talent.

Case for NO: downvoting mainline games has become a ritual at this point.

Case for YES: Dexit was a uniquely polarising event. Now that pill’s been swallowed, it won’t sting as much next time.

Case for NO: things won’t get better.

Case for YES: things can’t get worse.

So I assume Pokémon Legends Z-A does not count?

@Kronopath Right now, definitely not. Based on rumours it sounds like the Gen 10 "main series" games are in development and are not the same thing as PLZA.

Things would have to appear significantly different for me to think PLZA was the main series game. Something along the scale of moving VGC to PLZA, or splitting it into two paired games.
