God-Level Meme: A meme that achieves unparalleled recognition and influence within a specified timeframe, characterized by the following criteria:
Popularity: Shared, liked, or commented on by a significant number of users across various social media platforms, reaching a predetermined threshold (e.g., a million shares within a week).
Cultural Impact: Recognized and referenced across various media, including news outlets, TV shows, or public figures, signifying a broader societal acknowledgment.
Creativity and Originality: Exhibits a unique blend of humor, insight, or commentary that distinguishes it from other memes, becoming a benchmark for subsequent creations.
Endurance: Continues to be relevant and actively shared beyond an initial surge, indicating a lasting appeal.
In the context of the prediction market "Will the Trump Mugshot become a God-Level meme?" a win condition could be met if the meme in question satisfies the above criteria after 1 month of the mugshots creation or dissemination.

UPDATE:
Hello everyone,
Thank you for your continued interest and participation in this prediction market. There's been substantial activity and widespread discussion regarding the Trump mugshot, and I believe it's crucial to provide a comprehensive update.
WHAT IS "GOD LEVEL"?
At its core, this label serves as a superlative—indicating an extraordinary, almost mythical impact or reach.
Here's an attempt to distill this nebulous concept into something more tangible:
A 'God-Level' meme transcends typical internet virality to achieve enduring cultural impact, epitomizing creativity and originality while demonstrating universal recognizability and widespread popularity across diverse demographics and geographies.
As for the original criteria;
Using this entry and it's citations, I am confident that the criteria I set is sufficiently appropriate to define "god level meme" and eventually resolve this market without much controversy.
The question for me at the moment is:
do I explain my view of how the criteria is met/falls short? Or should I justify my feelings once the market resolves in 3 weeks time?
Thanks very much for everyone's input and feel free to tear me to shreds in the replies, I'm happy to hear what you think.

@NewPlace2Frown I'd be interested to hear some examples of god level memes. Eg pepe, doge, cheezeburger would seem to me to all be God level but would not have achieved that in their first month. Meanwhile the meme "he protec, but he also attac" would not.
Some examples of memes you consider god level, and large memes you consider not god level, would be informative.
From the description I'm guessing that a necessary but not sufficient criterion would be that the mugshot is still being actively shared and remixed by a large number of people in a month?
@NewPlace2Frown I think it would be valuable to hear your thoughts about whether the criteria are satisfied as of right now. Because in the end, this is a subjective evaluation. Personally, I've been refraining from participating in this market because I'm still not clear on the criteria. The current situation is also not what it will be in 3 weeks. You expect a god level meme to be enduring, which is something that the mugshot might fail in this timeframe.
@NewPlace2Frown already fell off, was kinda cringe and "orange man bad covfefe drumpf" tier to begin with

@brubsby thanks everyone for your replies, The examples mentioned by Madge are good, as well as the counter example of he protecc.
Pepe is obviously a god-level meme, and it's also true that it didn't become that in a month's time- it took years of remixing and sharing for it to become a part of internet culture. So in that sense, I appreciate the criticism that the timeframe is a little short to determine the status of the meme.
At the same time, I think the criteria specifically set out in the description and the update allows for a determination to be made.
Meme status can be subjective and context-dependent, but these examples can help illustrate the concept:
**Examples of 'God-Level' Memes:**
1. **"Pepe the Frog"**: This meme achieved global recognition, inspired countless variations, and maintained cultural relevance for years, making it a prime example of a 'God-Level' meme.
2. **"Rickrolling"**: The "Never Gonna Give You Up" video prank became a timeless cultural reference, showcasing enduring impact and universal recognizability.
3. **"Distracted Boyfriend"**: Widely recognized and creatively adapted, this meme's original image continues to be referenced across various contexts.
4. **"This is Fine"**: Originating from a webcomic, this meme's image and phrase are frequently invoked to express various forms of resigned acceptance or humor in the face of chaos.
**Counterexamples of 'God-Level' Memes:**
1. **"Two Buttons"**: While this meme garnered popularity, it didn't achieve the enduring cultural impact or universal recognizability seen in 'God-Level' memes.
2. **"Salt Bae"**: Though widely shared and parodied, its influence waned relatively quickly compared to more iconic memes.
3. **"Damn Daniel"**: This meme experienced a sudden surge in popularity but lacked the lasting impact and depth of cultural references associated with 'God-Level' memes.
4. **"What Are Those?"**: While this meme enjoyed a moment in the spotlight, it didn't become a timeless reference point in internet culture.

Given these examples, I hope that helps you guys with your betting, and that I haven't poisoned the well or made things more difficult. I have my personal views on wether the criteria is satisfied, but I'll try my best to be objective as is possible about this admittedly vague criteria - thanks guys!
@NewPlace2Frown At this point if you resolve this as anything other than NO I think you're going to be generating a ton of controversy for yourself. And I say that as only a very small NO investor. Won't hurt me at all if you resolve as YES, but if I were a big NO investor I'd be genuinely upset.
In fact, you can almost use that as your criteria. For it to be GOD-level don't you think it should be uncontroversial that it is, in fact, so? It is pretty apparent from this market's bets that it isn't.
@NewPlace2Frown You gonna resolve this yet, bro? Pretty obvious that this did not become a popular meme.
Since everyone agrees the resolution criteria are kind of vague, maybe we can get a check-in from @NewPlace2Frown. It's been over a week since original market creation, and about 3 weeks till market close.
Since the market hasnt resolved yet, I assume you dont feel set one way or another yet. Could you give an update on the 4 criteria you've orignally set? Possibly you can provide some insight in what aspects are still lacking for each, if they are not sufficiently fulfilled.
@Dennis5a87 Thank you very much for this response and prompt. I think I've clarified it in my head so I'll get that down and post the update in a few minutes.
@Sanargama arguments are fine I'm not married to my definition of god level meme. If the image is shared around the world and iterated on in numerous funny ways, with strong staying power, it resolves yes - got anything better?
@Xiaobai I understand, but I definitely meant meme in the sense that you meant it. Thinking of the best way to update the description to match these intentions
@NewPlace2Frown Right, like i think it will be like a che Guevara image, but I wouldn’t call that image a meme in the modern sense.
@AdamTreat I think that counts, Che Guevara is a pretty god-level meme if there ever was one, even if it is misunderstood.
@NewPlace2Frown yeah, but it didn't happen within one month or so. your market is pretty near-term and I don't actually think you can judge whether smth is god-level until at least a decade passes.
@AdamTreat I think we might know in the next few days, it'll probably be one of the most shared images in history when we know for sure
@NewPlace2Frown yeah, but that isn't a meme. a meme is when it has much greater staying power and takes on a whole 'nother level of meaning than the original event that caused it. i put in a small sum saying NO because i think you'll assess it to be non-god like unless/until we see like both sides wearing the t-shirt out on the street or someone co-opting the image for a diff. purpose. but you resolve how you see fit ;P
