OpenAI has the "GPT store" but also "function calling" and "constraining the output to be JSON" are arguably support for automated agents too.
Will the initial release of Gemini have features marketed for consumption by programs?
Mere API access would not be sufficient: A script to generate 1000 fake articles is programmatic use, but the articles are not really driving an automated agent.
If they release features that allow implementing automated agents(such as exposing the token probabilities, so that one could match a JSON grammar or schema), this won't count: Google must market it for consumption by automated agents.
Since this market is subjective, I won't bet in it.

Function calling with Gemini Pro:

Function calling is in Preview, with announcements at:
https://blog.google/technology/ai/gemini-api-developers-cloud/
https://cloud.google.com/blog/products/ai-machine-learning/gemini-support-on-vertex-ai
This was announced along with Gemini: There was a slight delay, and it's still in preview with no support for production/commercial, but they do market the model as supporting function calling.
So, because function calling was one of the prime "automated agents" features, and they even use the word "agent", this resolves YES.

Gemini was announced, released to Bard, and there's something about "integrating it into applications".
I have closed the market for trading since it is likely information sufficient to resolve this market will be announced on December 13: If it's not a YES, it should be a NO.
@Mira I don't see anything here. Gemini models | Google AI for Developers
They have an API obviously, but "text/chat" is not automated agents. They do partner with LangChain and tested on instruction following, but nothing about formatting those responses in structured formats like OpenAI can do for consumption by programs.
I should've excluded embeddings explicitly, since those are always targeted at software. But I don't see anything like the GPT store or function calling or even JSON output.
So I will be resolving this NO, since it seems to be a generic text/chat LLM.
@Mira I may have misresolved:

@Gen Can you re-resolve this YES? (I should probably have a badge so I can do this myself, but I don't like it being visible to everyone. Also, you're the only staff member who doesn't care if I ping them.)
