Since the FIDE rating list inception there were a total of seven players holding the number one spot at any point in their careers, as of April 2024. Which other players will manage to join the club?
Anyone is welcome to add answers, duplicates will be removed.
Only the rating list considered the most "respectable" will be taken into account, which today (2024) is the FIDE Standard rating.
Will be resolved Yes the moment a respective player becomes worlds No. 1, and No the moment a player is both at least 50 years old and is retired, or, well, if a player dies earlier.
