Claude Code now allows a "fast" mode for Opus 4.6 that offers the same top-end responses at a higher price: https://code.claude.com/docs/en/fast-mode

Will OpenAI do the same?

Key requirements:

• It must be a model intended for agentic coding (like Codex 5.3)

• It must be the top-end model (currently Codex 5.3, could be different later)

• "Fast" mode must be non-default and cost extra when enabled
