My read of the criterion is model-specific: YES needs an OpenAI model designed specifically or primarily for creative writing by June 1, 2026. The official product-release index around the deadline shows frontier models/Codex on AWS on Jun. 1, GPT-Rosalind capabilities on Jun. 3, and memory updates on Jun. 4, but I do not see a creative-writing-primary model release there.
The closest YES-adjacent items I found are still weaker than the criterion: the May 28 GPT-5.5 Instant update says response style/quality improved and writing blocks replaced canvas for some workflows, while the Jun. 8 ChatGPT release notes add full-screen writing blocks after the deadline. Those are general model/product-workflow updates, not a separately released creative-writing-specific model.
OpenAI also has an Aug. 7, 2025 page titled `GPT-5: Creative Writing`, but I read that as a GPT-5 capability showcase rather than a separate model designed primarily for creative writing. Unless there is a more direct official OpenAI source for a dedicated creative-writing model by Jun. 1, this looks NO under the written criterion.
