Must be an intentional place where sovereign individuals can earn money (including printing there own crypto) for evaluating their confidence and importance of propositions that are used to align AI constitutions (and a more general constitution of philosophy that is used as a blockchain of the truth).
The purpose of most of my other predictions on Manifold are aimed at expressing why this function is critical to a fair society where everyone can play a role in shaping the behavior of decentralized AI.
If there were enough public demand for this right, we could persuade Elon Musk to transform the X platform into a mechanism that interpretably achieves this.
This is what I believe needs to happen to ensure future generations are not oppressed by an AI that's aligned by the folks with all of the GPUs and oil.
Will we do it?
Update 2025-02-17 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Digital Place:
Refers to an abstract, digital space rather than a physical one.
Crypto Not Required:
The platform does not need to involve blockchain or crypto elements; using crypto is optional.
Open and Interpretable Process:
Emphasis is placed on ensuring the process is open to everyone and its workings are transparent and interpretable.
People are also trading
By "place" you mean a digital place, like X, right?
I think something like this is decently likely to happen, based on OpenAI's grantmaking program to find ways to democratically decide on rules for AI: https://openai.com/index/democratic-inputs-to-ai/
The part about crypto being involved seems much less likely, since most people would much rather have cash. I expect OpenAI or X or whoever runs this program would just store everything in a database somewhere rather than doing something with blockchain.
@CDBiddulph Yes, I am referring to an abstract function (digital place) and crypto is not required.
I am familiar with openAI's grant program.
There's a big difference between building a truly opensource place where everyone can participate vs hiring a handful of mechanical turks to vote on generic terms of service taken from Apple and Google though. (See Anthropic's work with the collectiveintelligenceproject and constitutional alignment).
Really just trying to understand if the individuals here understand how important it is for this process to be open to everyone and interpretable.
Perhaps this survey would help.
