Pro-palestine55%

Context: I'm a 24yr old male with no skin in the game, neither Muslim or Jewish. I have been hearing arguments daily from online commentators such as Douglas Murray, Piers Morgan, Dave Smith, Cenk, Konstantin etc etc. My view currently stands 50-50, feel free to use the comment section to convince me.

Will resolve as a percentage, depending on which side I favor more by the end of the year.

A few arguments that I have read and my thoughts

  • "Oct 7th was an act of resistance by an oppressed people" - Killing innocent civilians is NOT an act of resistance, its a different story if the attack was directed at the government or IDF.

  • To which their argument would be "Yes, well the Israelis are not innocent because they put this oppressive regime in-charge to oppress the Paletistinians" Then by that logic, Israel could also argue that the innocent Palestinians are not innocent because they elected Hamas that committed these atrocities, thus they must suffer the consequences.

  • I have read some of the Israeli ministers tweets online, they clearly treat the Palestinian people like animals and have advocated for their removal from their land.

  • I have seen many pro-Israeli people justify the horrible atrocities on the innocent Palestinians because of the atrocities of Hamas on Oct 7th. They say "well, Hamas was elected by Palestinians, so now they must reap the consequences of what they sowed", except again that logic doesn't work because many innocent civilians that are being indiscriminately killed have nothing to do with Hamas being in power

  • It is thus indisputable to me that the act by Hamas on Oct 7 was a terrorist attack on innocent civilians. And Israel's response was not a measured attack against the terrorists and thus far has shown clear disregard for innocent Palestinian civilians killing them indiscriminately.

Dave Smith often talks about Israel's actions radicalizing Palestinians but the opposite is true.

After all, the US actions in WWII didn't radicalize the Germans and Japanese. On the contrary they deradicalized them.

@nathanwei A Modest Proposal indeed!
