Manifold recently added a M$1,000,000 donation cap, and a 25% fee to market subsidization, which some people are unhappy about. Will there be any more significant changes like that, such as additional fees or caps?
Resolves based on a community vote of whether users feel it was "significant". (Using their own personal metric which would count the two mentioned changes as "significant".) Trustworthyish users get 3 votes each.
I think it's reasonably likely in the medium- to long-term we'll add a fee to bounties, but probably not in the timeframe of this question.
Why? Bounties are 1. another example of the platform rendering the user a concrete service that they'd be happy to pay for and 2. have a positional aspect (bounty creators competing against each other for user attention) that makes the tax much more efficient than alternatives (less deadweight loss).
But first we have to make bounties better, so more users actually create them...
@SG I think if you do that, people will just switch to using managrams/manalinks. So you'd have to add a fee to those too.
@IsaacKing Not so sure about that. There's a big difference between having an official bounty on the platform that's promoted on the feed, etc. and rolling your own bounty with manalinks. As long as the fee isn't too high, I think users will prefer the former.
@SG Maybe. I can say that I personally would use a managram (creating a market to advertise it), but I may not be representative.
If bounty markets came with other benefits on top of the ability to transfer mana, like greater visibility or a "I helped someone!" badge to anyone awarded the bounty, that would make me more likely to pay the fee.
