@EvanDaniel Do auto-bids count? The current listed number of bids is 8, but if you count up all of the bids including auto-bids you get 13.

I'm unclear on what's an "auto bid" given that I put in a $1 starting bid and then that went to $1.25 with two more manual bids (note 3 distinct time stamps). It looks to me like there were 6 manual interactions based on timestamps.
Anyway I'm happy with however y'all are handling it, I didn't remember it was this weird when I wrote the question.
