Resolution criteria
This market is inherently subjective. Because "center-right" lacks a universally agreed-upon quantitative metric, this market will resolve according to a community consensus poll conducted upon market close on December 31, 2029 (or earlier if called by the creator):
The market creator will publish a Manifold community poll asking: "Has the Republican Party returned to a conventional center-right orientation rather than its populist/nationalist alignment as of December 31, 2029?"
If a simple majority of votes cast within 7 days of the poll's publication vote Yes, this market resolves to YES.
Otherwise, it resolves to NO.
Note to creator: If you prefer an objective quantitative index (e.g., DW-NOMINATE ideological scores, the Manifesto Project data, or leadership endorsements) instead of a community poll, please edit these criteria before trading volume increases.
Background
The modern Republican Party underwent a significant ideological transformation following Donald Trump's 2016 election, shifting from traditional neo-conservative, free-trade, and limited-government principles toward right-wing populism, economic nationalism, and stricter immigration controls.
Debates regarding the GOP's long-term trajectory center on whether the party will realign toward a more traditional establishment center-right coalition (similar to the pre-2016 eras of George W. Bush or Mitt Romney) following the conclusion of Trump's active political career, or whether populist and nationalist factions will maintain lasting control of the party apparatus and primary electorate through 2030.
