Resolution criteria
This market resolves to YES if, prior to January 1, 2030, a clear shift away from Donald Trump's "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) movement is formalized within the leadership of the Republican Party, or if the creator and traders determine by consensus that a post-MAGA faction has taken control.
Because "post-MAGA" is inherently subjective, resolution will be evaluated based on observable political milestones before 2030, resolving to YES if any of the following occur:
The official 2028 Republican Party platform explicitly disavows core MAGA framing, or the 2028 Republican presidential nominee actively runs against and defeats a Trump-endorsed/MAGA candidate while explicitly identifying as a non-MAGA or anti-MAGA conservative.
Donald Trump is no longer leader of the party (e.g., end of term, retirement, or passing), and leadership of both the Republican National Committee (GOP.com) and congressional leadership (Speaker/House Leader and Senate Leader) is occupied by figures widely recognized in mainstream political reporting (e.g., AP News, Reuters) as moving the party past the MAGA era.
If the MAGA movement remains the dominant ideological and electoral force in the party, or if a chosen successor/populist continues the MAGA brand as the party's primary identity through December 31, 2029, this market resolves to NO.
Note: Market creator should refine or specify preferred objective benchmarks (e.g., specific polling metrics, primary winner alignment, or party platform changes) if a narrower definition is intended. If consensus cannot be reached on whether the party has transitioned to "post-MAGA," resolution may default to a user community poll.
Background
The "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) movement has defined the Republican Party's coalition, platform, and leadership since Donald Trump's initial 2016 campaign and subsequent control of the party apparatus. Political analysts routinely debate what form a "post-MAGA" GOP would take—whether it means a return to traditional neoconservative and free-market orthodoxy, an evolution into institutionalized national populism without Trump personally, or an explicit rejection of Trumpist rhetoric and personnel. With the 2028 presidential cycle falling within this timeframe, the party's direction following Trump's second term or political retirement will serve as the primary test of MAGA's long-term endurance.
