Resolution criteria

This market resolves to YES if Rupert Lowe is officially appointed Prime Minister of the United Kingdom at any point prior to January 1, 2040, at 00:00 UTC. Otherwise, this market resolves to NO.

Resolution will be verified using official announcements from gov.uk, records from the UK Parliament, or the official Court Circular documenting the monarch inviting him to form a government. Serving in an acting, interim, or deputy capacity without receiving the formal appointment from the monarch will not qualify.

Background

Rupert Lowe is a British politician, businessman, and former chairman of Southampton F.C. He was elected to the House of Commons as Member of Parliament for Great Yarmouth in July 2024. He previously served as an MEP for the Brexit Party from 2019 to 2020. Lowe later broke away to launch and lead Restore Britain.

Under the British parliamentary system, the Prime Minister is appointed by the monarch and is almost always the leader of the political party capable of commanding the confidence of the House of Commons. Lowe was born in October 1957, meaning he will be in his early 80s as 2040 approaches.
