Background
The "Red, White, and Blueland Act of 2025" was introduced by U.S. Representative Buddy Carter, proposing to authorize the U.S. President to negotiate the acquisition of Greenland from Denmark and rename it. However, Denmark has consistently maintained that Greenland is not for sale. Currently, no other governments have proposed renaming Greenland.
Resolution Criteria
This market will resolve YES if any sovereign government officially renames Greenland to "Red, White, and Blueland" before the resolution date. This includes:
A unilateral declaration by Denmark
A successful U.S. acquisition and subsequent renaming
A decision by Greenland's autonomous government
Any other recognized government's official unilateral renaming of Greenland, including the US
The market will resolve NO if Greenland is not referred to as "Red, White, and Blueland" by any nation through expiry.
Considerations
Greenland has significant autonomy within the Kingdom of Denmark, but foreign affairs are still managed by Denmark
Historical precedent shows that country name changes typically require broad international recognition to be considered official,
