Will Maniswipe be the default on mobile tomorrow at noon PST?

YES

Most people on the Discord seem to hate it, and Manifold is fairly responsive.

I plan to open the Manifold app tomorrow at exactly noon PST to check. If I forget or am slightly late, I'll resolve based on my best guess on what would have happened at noon, based on reports from others.

I think Manifold will give their new UI that they worked on for ig some time before making any roll backs. Ofc they're pretty swift in this stuff but I'd expect them to gather some stats on a week or so long time frame and compare it to usage trends of the last weeks, months, etc before making any changes

Hmm, the Manifold employee bought Yes...

@Karthik That same employee bought "No" on the other market, and then a different manifold employee added it back as "dashboard".

Wouldn't put too much stock in Marshall's bets, lol

The people on discord are the most likely to be vocal by default since they went and joined a discord server on top of using manifold markets.

I didn't check but shouldn't be more than 1% of the userbase imo. And the people supporting the new UI were either drowned out (i did see a few messages by people liking some features of the new UI) and there was a lot of talk about improvement of the UI

So, to revert it back in a single day, without even testing those improvements - I think it's quite unlikely.

@firstuserhere Maybe one day isn't enough time, but that new layout is terrible. It will surely get reverted.

It is such a big change from the previous layout which was fully customisable, to be forced into the swiping model and not even be able to access the old layout.

They managed to bottleneck the usage of their own app so badly that it's inferior to their browser based mobile web app. It is genuinely shocking that manifold even made that change, when its incredibly worse than the previous layout (which is not even accessible anymore)

100% I delete the app and just use browser if it stays the way it is. I know I'm not the only one

@Gen Definitely agree with the first point. I was proposing that there should be an opt-in feature for new UI changes like this (similar to how Reddit handled it)

@firstuserhere The "old" home even being accessible on the menu would be nice, but I cannot find any way to access it at all. Of course, you can access the swipe function through labs still as well, but for some reason not the proper home.

@Gen The customisable part was great - I had a home with live feed, then my daily changers, etc. It was really easy to navigate across different markets - but i get how new users might be overwhelmed with that dense view. It's a trade-off between ease of use when starting out vs catering to the extreme users.

@Gen I've been exclusively using the browser version since the update, even though I was a heavy mobile app user before

@Gen Go to the search tab, and then search for "Live feed" - that gives you a long list of live feed on the full page

@firstuserhere Yeah exactly, the customisation was (and still is, on desktop) elite.

Me too. I was a heavy app user (and desktop app user too) but since the swipe thing I just become increasingly frustrated because I can only access one "section" or one group at a time to look for markets. Once I realised the mobile browser version is still good, I switched to that

@firstuserhere It's more than just the lack of customization. I like being able to easily scroll through the dashboard to see more markets, and if I don't want to bet on the markets that I am shown at the top, I can just scroll past them. With the manaswipe feature, it takes way longer to do this, since I have to swipe through each individual market (being careful to make sure that my swipe up isn't misinterpreted as a swipe right/left). Before they added access to the dashboard back, it was making Manifold borderline unusable.

@JosephNoonan Yeah, customisation aside, swiping feels like a chore.

I 100% agree that swiping is borderline unusable. This isn't like dating apps, dating apps show 1 at a time to minimise comparisons leading to abundance of choice or everyone filtering through to the same few people (it still happens anyway, but slightly less). It's more like social media where you just want to braindead scroll with 0 effort until you see something cool. Literally like a slot machine.

The dating site model is arduous as well, but if they made it a long scrollable feed where you could see everyone, their model would fall apart because average people would get zero attention. Personally I would never choose to swipe 1 at a time over scroll, the faster I can inject my brain with garbage the faster I can find the nuggets of gold I'm looking for. This shit is crack, don't reduce my dosage for no reason

@JosephNoonan i totally agree. I'd raised all these points on the discord server too. It's just way too slow to reach an interesting market, and although the recommendation engine will eventually recommend good markets by default, it would restrict exploration of new topics and outside of my previous interest new markets

@JamesGrugett i just saw you also added a "Live" section just below the dashboard (yes, easily accessible live was a big reason to love the old UI). This is awesome work, thanks for this!
