Will the US administration try to deride the moral integrity or sexual orientation of family members of the recent ICE shooting victim from the 24th of January?
Resolution Criteria
This market resolves YES if, in the next 30 days, the Trump administration (including President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Cabinet members, or official administration spokespersons) or President Trump himself makes public statements that deride the moral integrity or sexual orientation of family members of the January 24, 2026 ICE shooting victim in Minneapolis. Resolution requires documented public statements (via official channels, press briefings, social media, or recorded interviews) that explicitly or implicitly attack the character or sexual orientation of the victim's family members. This market resolves NO if no such statements are made by the specified deadline.
Background
Federal immigration officers shot and killed a man in Minneapolis on January 24, 2026, during an immigration crackdown. The victim was a 37-year-old man who lived in Minneapolis and was an American citizen, and was a lawful gun owner. The incident was the third shooting by federal officers in three weeks, following the killing of Renée Good.
Considerations
The Trump administration has established a pattern of attacking the character and personal attributes of ICE shooting victims and their families. Following Renée Good's killing on January 7, the Trump administration made sexist and homophobic attacks against Good, with demonization focused on her personal sexual identity as a lesbian. President Trump stated he hoped the victim's father was still a Trump supporter, noting he was told the father "was all for Trump" and "Loved Trump", suggesting political motivation for character attacks. This precedent makes similar attacks on the January 24 victim's family a plausible outcome.
