Will Manifold allow users to view all topics for a question in 2024?

YES

When the topics for a question exceed one line, the excess is replaced with an ellipsis, as shown in this screenshot (originally posted to Discord in September 2023):

(The market shown is: /CodeandSolder/will-any-new-states-implement-allma-adb38b008e05)

However, there is no way to expand the list to view all topics. Clicking the ellipsis does nothing, and I can't find any other way to view a complete list.

Will Manifold implement functionality to view the complete list of topics for such a question with many topics, before 00:00 UTC on January 1, 2025?

Requirements:

  • The functionality must be available to the general userbase, not a limited set of users, such as the question creator or moderators (formerly known as "trustworthy-ish").

  • The functionality may come in any form so long as it is reasonably available from the question page. For example, it may be in a redesigned question page, a collapsible area, or an item in a separate menu.

  • The functionality must be available in the default "desktop" Web interface. Although it may require a configuration option to be set, it cannot only be available in a significantly different interface (such as an alternative skin or browsing mode).

I may provide liquidity subsidies but I will not otherwise trade in this question.

Thanks to @Calvin6b82 and the Manifold team for implementing this.

I notice that this was mod-resolved by the Manifold Politics account (?), and I have to admit I take some issue with that, even though I consider the resolution correct. I understand that the guidelines for resolving markets state that "Manifold or moderators may resolve a market on [the creator's] behalf if unambiguous resolution criteria are fulfilled," but (1) I am still active and able to resolve my markets in a reasonable timeframe, and (2) this market still has some room for judgment calls and I wanted to exercise my own judgment regarding the feature that was implemented (perhaps I should have explicitly stated this as I have in some of my other markets).

@CollectedOverSpread I acknowledge your concern and apologize for prematurely resolving the market. I have just one minor followup: what would have been the optimal action for me to take? DM you, wait 48h, and then resolve?

Thinking about this a little bit more, I read Calvin's comment and took it upon myself to act upon it even though it is not my role, there are exciting processes by which an absentee market creator is addressed and you were not absentee. By prematurely resolving the market, I was accidentally implying that the market creator had not fulfilled their obligation, and this was wrong and I'm sorry about that.

@barak

what would have been the optimal action for me to take? DM you, wait 48h, and then resolve?

That would be preferable for me personally, yes. (Hopefully DMs send e-mail notifications; I can't seem to find an option for that in notification settings.)

The PR is now merged and is live. This can be resolved YES.

I made a PR https://github.com/manifoldmarkets/manifold/pull/2353 to fix this. If it's merged this should resolve YES.
