Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva appointed Jorge Messias, the current Solicitor General, to the Supreme Court on November 20, 2025. The appointment now goes to the Senate for a vote. The nominee must be submitted to a public hearing before the Senate Citizenship, Constitution and Justice Committee and needs to be approved by the absolute majority of the members of the Senate.
This market resolves YES if Messias receives Senate confirmation by March 31, 2026. It resolves NO if he is rejected or if the confirmation vote has not occurred by that date.
