I believe no, since it has already been made clear that out of the worst generation, Luffy will be the one to surpass them and move up to battle his true rivals, being Shanks, Buggy, and Blackbeard (current gen). I don't think Kid's story is completely over, he will come back somehow, but it won't be in the race for the One Piece.
