In your mind, why does half life alyx not count?

What would the game need to include to be HL3?

@LarsOsborne I thought about this for a while. I think that the game needs to be a meaningful continuation of the events that took place following half life two episode two, OR be directly named "Half Life 3"

Alyx was more of a prequel story. I think this is fair?

@Bandors So this does mean that if GRRM releases a book called Winds of Winter but it turns out to all be a prequel book and he says the next book will "continue the story" that it wouldn't count?
