Resolution criteria
This market resolves YES if Chittagong is declared the most liveable city in the world by the end of 2026 according to any major international liveability ranking. The primary reference will be the Economist Intelligence Unit's Global Liveability Index, which is the most widely recognized annual assessment. Alternative authoritative rankings include the IMD Smart City Index, Monocle's Quality of Life survey, and Mercer's Quality of Living City Ranking. The market resolves NO if Chittagong does not achieve the #1 ranking in any of these major indices by December 31, 2026.
Background
Copenhagen was ranked the most liveable city in 2025, with Western world cities dominating the top 10. Dhaka, Bangladesh ranks in the bottom 10 of the Global Liveability Index, and Chittagong, Bangladesh's second-largest city, does not currently appear in major international liveability rankings. The index ranks cities on over 30 factors across five categories: stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure.
Considerations
For Chittagong to achieve the #1 ranking by end of 2026 would require unprecedented improvement across all measured dimensions within a single year, as the city currently lacks presence in major international liveability assessments. This would represent a dramatic reversal from the current dominance of Western European and developed Asia-Pacific cities in these rankings.
