Update 2025-09-10 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): - If it's ambiguous whether the shooter is male, this market will resolve to N/A.
Update 2025-09-16 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): - For Acted alone (no accomplices): any accomplice associated with the shooting counts, including after-the-fact assistance (e.g., destroying evidence). If any such accomplice exists, this answer will not resolve as true.

@TheAllMemeingEye Is this intended to necessarily stay open for the rest of the shooter's life? Or should this resolve on the market closing date?
@Quroe it's about the rest of his life, but if necessary I'm ok with it being preliminarily resolved early with potential later re-resolution
Are we not banning the hard R (after the C word) on this site?

@Vesperstelo were there not, like, 3 different dudes, or was that just the last one of them and the two first ones were described different?
@Dulaman While I personally think its unlikely these were fabricated by FBI/police, I have seen people from both sides claim thry are fake. I do think those look weird, but I think we are dealing with weird people here.
@Xizted I don't think they were fabricated by the police either. I agree it reads really weird; almost like badly written fanfiction.
@Dulaman Yeah, exactly. Obviously if these were fabricated by the FBI/police, it would be easy to disprove in court, but I would assume FBI would otherwise figure out quickly if these were manufactured by the shooter and roommate from timestamps etc. Looking at the document, they seem to be only including some of the messages as there are a lot of ... around. There are those even within messages, so it seems they omitted some of the data.
@Dulaman They used those in between messages too, that is why I assumed they are using those to mark omitted content
@Xizted oh right, I was reading it here: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c99g1e0z2ero
Might be differently displayed on the original release
@Dulaman I looked at it earlier and there is no required gun registration in Utah, and the gun was his grandfathers, so I guess that is why he would assume so. Ironically enough, it sounds like that was what ultimately got him recognized as his mother showed the weapon to his father.
@Dulaman NYT released what I assume is the actual document, and that had ... between some of the messages
