Background
This is an eight-round professional boxing bout between YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul and former two-time unified heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua, following the removal of Paul's original opponent, WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis, due to Davis' recurring legal issues. Joshua, 36, is an Olympic champion and one of the most accomplished heavyweight boxers of this era, standing 6-foot-6 with an 82-inch reach and remaining one of the top-ranked heavyweights in the world. Paul, 28, has largely outperformed expectations since his entry into professional boxing in 2020, defeating athletes from the NBA, MMA, and other sports. Joshua has a substantial height and weight advantage and his professional fighting resume is far superior, making him the overwhelming bookies' favourite to win the fight.
Considerations
Despite heavyweight being unlimited, Joshua was contractually limited to no more than 245 pounds. In the past 14 months, Joshua underwent elbow surgery and took time off the sport to recover and recharge mentally and physically.
