Daylight Savings/Summer Time

“Permanent” means there would be no switch between Daylight Savings/Summer time and Standard time at any point during the year - it’s either one or the other year-round. Which would YOU prefer?

Such a good question! I created these questions and THEN started researching the recent politics beyond the headlines.

Standard time is better for your health (because it’s easier to get up earlier) but daylight savings time is better for commerce (people stay out later and spend more money if it’s light longer).

Equatorial countries should prefer summer time to get stuff done before the heat kicks in.

Polar countries should stick to winter time to catch more sunlight.

Ping-ponging timezones is stupid.

I prefer daylight savings because I already black out my windows to get good sleep. I'd like more daylight in the evening to spend time outdoors. Pickup ultimate frisbee games often don't run in the winter here in California not because of temperature but because there's no light.

Daylight savings time makes no sense. You drive to work when it's still dark out and then go to sleep when it's still light out.

Standard time. If the noon on the clock doesn't have to roughly correspond with solar noon, what are we even doing?
